Jus Bar in Columbia City Seattle serves juice, awesome smoothies, coffee and also Gluten Free treats and sandwiches! We are not talking the standard turkey sandwich on the oh so small gluten free bread either!

Tianna the owner is gluten intolerant herself and bakes the bread inhouse. I ordered the roasted chicken, provolone with garlic aoli, spinach and sundried tomatoes….yummm! Tasted like real bread! So glad I wandered in and asked about GF options!

Check out Jus Bar here!

Biscuit Bitch on 1st Ave, near the market, carries gluten free biscuits & gravy, gf sandwiches, sides, and even treats. I stopped in and warmed up over a plate on this rainy day.
We’re quite fond of Razzi’s in Greenwood (http://www.razzispizza.com/). They have a very large and comprehensive menu of not just pizza but pastas and even gyros–all gluten free. They have a great selection of desserts and gluten free alcoholic beverages as well. We’ve gone in there and seen who, I think, was the owner, educate people on how important it is for gluten free people to have a safe gluten free place to eat. The staff is always knowledgeable and the food tastes awesome. The price is what I consider mid-range, but I don’t know what other people would call it. The prices are on their online menu. Also, you can buy blank pizza crusts in just about any size you might want for not that much (something those of us who live a bit out of the restaurant’s range find really awesome).

Just before the Holidays, I received an invitation from Stacia at Andaluca to come and try their Gluten Free offerings. My wife and I have walked by the cozy looking restaurant in Downtown many times. We knew it was a nice place, and when Stacia got in contact with me there was no doubt that we were eager to give it a try.

When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly host, shown to our seats, and took a look at the Gluten Free Menu waiting for us at our table. I am always a fan of a restaurant that takes the time to create a menu for those looking to avoid Gluten. Andaluca takes it a step further, and as I talked with Chef Sarah she stressed to me that they do their best with all types of requests to the kitchen. You never can 100% trust eating out if you are severely allergic, but the folks at Andaluca understand the importance of keeping your food safe.

Our meal started with two lovely salads. I chose the beet and goat cheese salad. Everything from the presentation to the flavors involved were just right. Next, we took Chef Sarah’s suggestion and had the brussel sprouts. My wife and I both enjoyed these, and I liked the fact that the menu focused on presenting options that normally don’t encounter gluten during preparation For my main course I chose the Pan Roasted Chicken Breast. It was delicious and came with mashed potatoes surrounded by veggies. This is the type of meal I feel lucky to have once in a while.

If you are visiting from out of town, or are looking for a place to spend a nice night out, then I highly suggest Andaluca.

Not only is the food delicious, but the staff and ownership all put care into providing Gluten Free options for their customers.

Hello! I wanted to let you know that SODO Deli now carries the new Franz Gluten Free bread — both white & wheat — and they are available to use for most any sandwich on the SODO Deli Menu! We just made our first Gluten Free Reuben tonight and the customer was so very happy to eat it! (see http://www.sododeli.com/ for complete menu)

Please add our sandwich shop at 3228 1st Ave S. to your list of gluten-free-friendly restaurants! Our phone number is 206-467-0306 if you have any questions!

I am always excited to hear about a new place to grab a quick bite. Thanks Jan!

If you are up on your local Gluten Free News, you may have heard of Dominick Cura. The bright young guy (13) recently wrote his own book, “Eternally Gluten Free – A Cookbook of Sweets Inspiration, From a Teen!”.

Now he is organizing a fundraiser to make his book a part of a great program put on by the University of Chicago. Each year they send several hundred care packages to children newly diagnosed with celiac disease. Dominick is raising money in hopes to purchase enough of his books to have them included in the care packages. How cool is that?

The event will be on 11/14/12 from 6 to 8pm at Chuck’s Hop Shop (656 NW 85TH ST.). My favorite Gluten Free brewery, Harvester Brewing, will be on hand as well as the Urban Nomad Food Truck. The event is family friendly and Gluten and Gluten Free friendly. There is also a raffle for some great prizes.

Come join Dominick, and the Gluten Free community of Seattle for a great cause!
